Jan Brueghel : a magnificent draughtsman
In 2019, we are looking back in Flanders and in Brussels at the crucial role that Pieter Bruegel the Elder played in the art-historical landscape of the sixteenth century. The 450th anniversary of his death is a good moment at which to rediscover the work of Jan Brueghel the Elder. The Snyders&Rockox House is therefore taking a closer look at the drawings of Jan Brueghel I (1568-1625), son of Pieter Bruegel the Elder and brother of Pieter the Younger. Together with Peter Paul Rubens, Jan was one of the most successful Flemish artists of the first quarter of the seventeenth century. He was at home in every market - an inspired painter of landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, historical themes, hunting scenes and allegorical and mythological subjects. Jan is seen as the inventor of the floral still, but he was also an important innovator in the depiction of landscapes, in which his father's artistic legacy and his visit to Italy played no small part. The art of painting is underpinned by that of drawing, by which the artist's talent and creativity can be measured. No previous exhibition has been dedicated solely to the drawn oeuvre of Jan Brueghel I. This major event is curated by Jan Brueghel scholars Dr Teréz Gerszi and Dr Louisa Wood Ruby, supported by Bernadett Tóth. The exhibition will feature some fifty drawings and several paintings, loaned by leading institutions like the Louvre, Rijksmuseum and British Museum. Exhibition: Snijders & Rockoxhuis, Antwerp, Belgium (05.10.2019-26.01.2020).
Project-based learning model with real object in vocational school learning
Learning in vocational schools is not enough just teacher-centered because the material presented does not only cover cognitive aspects, but also the affective and psychomotor aspects. In fact, there are still many teachers who use conventional modes, including learning technical drawings, so that student learning outcomes are low. The purpose of this research was to determine the learning outcomes of the PjBL model using real object media better than conventional methods in technical drawing subjects. A quasi-experiment was used in research with a nonequivalent control group design. The study population was 42 students of class X TP. The sampling technique uses cluster sampling. Class X TP1 as a control class with 23 students and Class X TP2 as an experimental class with 19 students. Data collection techniques using test techniques. The research instrument was a test sheet. The data analysis used t-test analysis with prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. Based on testing the hypothesis test, it was concluded that the PjBL model with real objects gives better learning outcomes compared to conventional methods of learning outcomes of technical drawings.
Christina Rossetti : poetry in art
Christina Rossetti (1830-1894) is among the greatest of English Victorian poets. The intensity of her vision, her colloquial style, and the lyrical quality of her verse still speak powerfully to us today, while her striking imagery has always inspired artists. Rossetti lived in an exceptionally visual environment: her brother, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, was the leading member of the avant-garde Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and she became a favorite model for the group. She sat for the face of Christ in William Holman Hunt's The Light of the World, while both John Everett Millais and Frederick Sandys illustrated her poetry. Later on, the pioneering photographer Julia Margaret Cameron and the great Belgian Symbolist Fernand Khnopff were inspired by Rossetti's enigmatic verses. This engaging book explores the full artistic context of Rossetti's life and poetry: her own complicated attitude to pictures; the many portraits of her by artists, including her brother, John Brett, and Lewis Carroll; her own intriguing and virtually unknown drawings; and the wealth of visual images inspired by her words.
Current perspectives on innovative methods used in teaching technical drawing
This article emphasizes some innovative methods that can be used to improve the teaching of the basic concepts of technical drawing, for students of technical faculties. These methods stimulate both the learning process and personal development, ensuring the improvement and optimization of the educational process through the exchange of ideas and experiences. The innovative methods included in the case studies presented in this paper were applied in the teaching activities, at the subject technical drawing, and demonstrated both the motivation and implication of students, as well as the fact that effective results were gained by using these methods. The results of these case studies were reflected in the improved performance of students and can also be used to improve the quality of teaching and learning technical drawing.

Analysis of New Methodologies applied in Teaching Engineering Graphics to have a Moderate Explanation
Engineering Graphics is a subject dealt by the Mechanical faculty which is a common course for all the First yearB.Tech students. It is the only course where the entire inputs are carried on a drawing sheet and come out with a final considerable output. It is the new course where students have no basic knowledge before getting into the course. The instructor has to take a continuous 3 hours class which includes theory and practical which is scheduled only to have a smooth proper learning. Besides explaining the syllabus on the blackboard with chalk new methodologies should be implemented to have a better explanation which must reach the same content to every corner of the student. As there is advancement in every field, Engineering Graphics is proposed to have an advance teaching Methodology whereby every student is at most equally shared the same teaching content.

A Case Study: Gap Competency Between Mechanical Engineering Graduates of Vocational High School and The Demand in Workplace
Abstract This study explores the workplace competencies, especially in the production machine operators, and finds the existing gap between the competency of mechanical engineering graduates of Vocational High School (Indonesian: Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan; abbreviated as VHS) and the demanded skills in the workplace. The research method employed in this research is the qualitative-explorative research method. In this research, it can be acknowledged that in a broader aspect, the competencies of the mechanical profession of motorcycles, cars, and operators of production machines can be clustered into three groups of skills: base, core, and supporting competencies. Based on the four competencies’ competency map, the vocational school graduates’ basic competencies are unfulfilled in the production workshop: (1) reading the technical drawing and (2) using the hand tools. Moreover, VHS graduates of the mechanical engineering department are still shortage of core competencies, hence still occupying at “lack of comprehension” level equal to more than 33%. On the other hand, the vocational school graduates’ supporting competency is in a minor percentage, according to the workshop’s head, chief engine operator, and senior operator in the workshop.
