Publishing and Promotion in Economics
This paper examines the relationship between placement of publications in top five (T5) journals and receipt of tenure in academic economics departments. Analyzing the job histories of tenure-track economists hired by the top 35 US economics departments, we find that T5 publications have a powerful influence on tenure decisions and rates of transition to tenure. A survey of the perceptions of young economists supports the formal statistical analysis. Pursuit of T5 publications has become the obsession of the next generation of economists. However, the T5 screen is far from reliable. A substantial share of influential publications appear in non-T5 outlets. Reliance on the T5 to screen talent incentivizes careerism over creativity.

The Rise of Research Teams: Benefits and Costs in Economics
2021
Economics research is increasingly performed in teams, and team-authored work has a large and increasing impact advantage. This article considers the benefits and costs of this \"rise of teams.\" Among its benefits, teamwork allows individuals to aggregate knowledge in productive and novel ways. For example, as knowledge accumulates over time, individuals become narrower in their expertise, and teamwork is a natural organizational approach to aggregating expertise and maintaining one's reach. But teamwork also brings costs. For example, teamwork divides and obscures credit, which is central to the reward system of science. By clouding credit assignment, teamwork can undermine individual career progression and exacerbate issues of bias. In addressing the rise of teamwork, this paper further considers institutional innovations, especially those inspired by the hard sciences, that can help limit the costs teamwork imposes while realizing the benefits.

Media competence of an editor as a factor of the effective promotion of scientific journals in the international information environment
2021
The article gives insights into the concept of media competence regarding the profession of an editor of a scientific journal. Currently, the media competence is gaining the same relevance as other important competencies of publishers of scientific periodicals. The ability to find the required information quickly and efficiently, the ability to work professionally with international scientometric databases, a good understanding of the process of promoting a publication in the information environment, an ability to see if the publication corresponds to the research request and bibliographic description - all these and other skills and knowledge become crucial in organizing the work of the editorial staff of a scientific journal. At the same time, it should be recognized that the editorial staff of scientific journals acquire professional media competences directly in the process of work on the basis of their own successful or less successful experience. The country does not have a training system for such personnel, despite the fact that the challenges faced by the publishers are ambitious. These challenges require an integrated approach, including the increase of the media competence of editors of scientific journals.

Drug delivery systems are defined as formulations aiming for transportation of a drug to the desired area of action within the body. The basic component of drug delivery systems is an appropriate carrier that protects the drug from rapid degradation or clearance and thereby enhances drug concentration in target tissues. Based on their biodegradable, biocompatible, and nonimmunogenic structure, niosomes are promising drug carriers that are formed by self-association of nonionic surfactants and cholesterol in an aqueous phase. In recent years, numerous research articles have been published in scientific journals reporting the potential of niosomes to serve as a carrier for the delivery of different types of drugs. The present review describes preparation methods, characterization techniques, and recent studies on niosomal drug delivery systems and also gives up to date information regarding recent applications of niosomes in drug delivery.
