Driver gets 5 years in death Man admits driving under the influence when he hit pedestrian
[Janusz W. Ziemba], 25, of Glendale Heights, pleaded guilty Sept. 13 to aggravated drunken driving for the Nov. 6, 2004, fatal crash. At the time, Ziemba had two pending drunken driving arrests from Dec. 3, 2003, and July 29, 2004. One arrest was later dismissed, while Ziemba received a one-year jail sentenced for the other, a misdemeanor. After the fatal crash, Ziemba attended various sobriety programs while serving five months in jail. Later, he obtained a degree from Universal Technical Institute and became employed while his case still was pending. He also passed 50 random alcohol and drug tests while free on bond.
Woman killed in hit-and-run
Janusz W. Ziemba was taken into custody by Glendale Heights police and later charged by the DuPage County state's attorney's office with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. In the collision, 45-year-old Renalla Jackson of Glendale Heights was killed. Police said Ziemba was seen driving north on Glen Ellyn Road following the collision in a black 1992 Honda Civic.
Burnham workers OK 3-year contract
[Robert W. Ziemba] said Burnham also agreed to set up a 401(k) plan for employees. Workers will make contributions toward their retirement, but the company will not match those contributions, he said. Ziemba said employees also will see the amount they pay for hospitalization increase gradually over the contract. For example, under one option, a single person with no dependents would pay $5 each week the first year, $5.50 the second and $5.75 the third year. The union represents about 200 workers at Burnham's production plant on Dillerville Road and a distribution center in City Line Business Center along Manheim Pike. Workers have said the average wage was about $13 an hour. Citing Burnham's profitable year last year, Ziemba said, \"It's only fair that the employees get their fair share.\"
Accused driver has arrests in his past Man charged with leaving accident that killed woman in Glendale Heights
Janusz W. Ziemba, 23, of Glendale Heights is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and remained in DuPage County jail Monday. Renella Jackson, 45, also of Glendale Heights, died shortly after a 1992 Honda Civic driven by Ziemba hit her at 9:49 a.m. as she stood on the median in the middle of Glen Ellyn Road, north of North Avenue, authorities said. Jackson was pronounced dead at GlenOaks Hospital in Glendale Heights.

Hellen is arrested on parole violation
[Charles S. Ziemba] said a warrant for [John W. Hellen]'s arrest was issued late Friday afternoon after police on Long Island learned of his arrest in Ware. Hellen was picked up at 9 a.m. yesterday morning, according to information relayed to the Environmental Police from New York officials. Ziemba said Hellen's criminal record was not discovered after his arrest in [WARE] \"because of a glitch in the computer system.\" He said the computer check indicated that Hellen had a record, but no details could be found in the computer file.

Anita M. Ziemba YORK Anita M. (Archer) Ziemba, 64, of Jackson Township, died suddenly on Friday morning, June 17, 2005, at her home. Mrs. Ziemba's funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. Viewing will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Environmental Police Officer Charles \"Stu' Ziemba said Scott E. Taylor, 22, of 294 Pelham Road, Amherst, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday at his home. Ziemba said Taylor was charged with hunting deer without a license, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card, and receiving stolen property valued at more than $250, a 12-guage Winchester pump shotgun. According to Ziemba, environmental police were checking the licenses of a group of hunters at 4 p.m. Saturday on Sessions Road. Ziemba said Taylor did not have either a hunting license or an FID card in his possession.
