Let's call it what it is : a new vocabulary for moral education
With a new century, there has emerged a new age in moral considerations. The Arab Spring, Facebook, and the Occupy Movement all point to an awareness of, and concern for, the moral character of the individual and the collective. The phrase, \"it's the right thing to do\", echoing throughout news media and one's daily exchanges, typically indicates a moral positioning. Presented in this book is the argument that now is the time to call it what it is, a matter of conscience, and to embrace the transformative power of a new vocabulary for moral and character education. In a more expansive approach than typically seen, this book examines the nature and function of conscience.

2024
The study seeks to examine the incorporation of citizenship education into Physical Education (PE) classes in Indonesia to mitigate character degradation. Employing the systematic literature review methodology, the study collected data by searching from Google Scholar, specifically focusing on journal articles indexed in the Scopus databases. In addition, the articles must be published between 2019 and 2024. The keywords were specified as the following: \"Integration AND Civic Education AND Character AND Physical Education AND Junior High School AND Indonesia\". The PRISMA technique was used during the article identification process. The study found 13 articles that aligned with the theme and met the inclusion criteria. The results indicated that incorporating civic education into physical education (PE) at Junior High School (SMP) in Indonesia successfully mitigated student character degradation. Some principles that contribute to this mitigation and helped students cultivate stronger characters were tolerance, collaboration, and responsibility. This integration facilitates the construction of a comprehensive educational curriculum that encompasses not only physical components but also the cultivation of character and civic values. As a result, it contributes to the building of a morally upright and ethically conscious generation of students. Creative Character Education in Mathematics for Prospective Teachers
2019
This study examines preservice teachers’ perspectives of creativity and character education in mathematics through a university-based teacher education program. We developed a curricular unit on creative character education in a mathematics methods course and investigated participants’ (n = 56) emerging perspectives of teaching creativity and character by the integration of content and process in mathematics. Data were collected through pre- and post-questionnaires and transcribed course discussion and presentation sessions. A quantitative analysis of the questionnaires through a t-test confirmed key changes in participants’ perspectives, while the qualitative context of data illustrates the participants’ emergent views on creative character education in mathematics. Overall, findings suggest that a mathematics teacher education curriculum integrating mathematical creativity and character education has the potential to prepare future educators to implement pedagogy that bridges between process and content in school mathematics for the next generation of learners.

2019
Traditional personal virtue education is insufficient for addressing the contemporary concerns associated with Internet use; thus, e-character education is proposed as an effective method for bridging the concerns in cyberspace and those in the real world. The goals of this study were to establish and verify the behavioral standards that should apply in cyberspace. An open-ended questionnaire was first developed. After collecting discussion posts on an online course in which 140 elementary and junior high school teachers participated, we drafted an initial version of the questionnaire containing 67 behavioral standards in 12 core value categories. Next, to verify these standards and evaluate their importance, we invited 19 experts (character education experts, experienced teachers, and Internet literacy scholars) to form a Delphi-technique group. After three Delphi rounds, 17 experts reached a consensus on the 64 most important behavioral standards that would be applicable to student behavior in cyberspace. Finally, according to the results, this study provides suggestions for curriculum design, policy formulation, and further research on e-character education.

Restaurants, galleries, and concert halls. But Frederick Troy never gets to Amsterdam. After a concert in Vienna he is approached by an old friend whom he has not seen for years--Guy Burgess, a spy for the Soviets, who says something extraordinary: 'I want to come home'\"-- Provided by publisher.
Sustainable Development of Children and Character Education: Bibliometric Analysis Using Vosviewer
2024
Objective: This research aims to review various character education methods that impact children's sustainable intellectual, mental and character development.
Method: The research method is a bibliometric study based on a literature review in the form of articles taken from publications in journals published and indexed by SCOPUS with the keywords \"Character Education\", \"Empathy\", and \"Children's Education\" in the period 2021 to 2024. Computational mapping analysis for bibliometric publication data using VOSviewer application.
Result: The research results show that the articles used as references totalled 129 articles discussing character education, children's education and empathy. The results of the analysis with the help of VOSviewer show that character education is closely related to positive psychology and emotions, and children's education is closely related to compassion, intervention, and character strength. Based on density visualisation, research on empathy is always developing and is still being researched by researchers.
