Agritourism Farms and the Web. An Exploratory Evaluation of their Websites
In the last few years, the contribution of the agricultural sector to tourism has been increasingly evident. Agritourism provides the possibility to have a green holiday experience and allows farmers to diversify their income. In the tourist sector, communication is decisive in determining consumption choices, and the Web plays an important role. Considering that the Internet can bring potential benefits and reach new customers, it is important that websites are complete and attractive. This paper evaluates agritourism websites in an Italian region (Sicily) to analyse the strategic choices made by farmers. This study uses the eMICA methodological approach to analyse the quality of the websites and a cluster analysis to find homogeneous groups of farms. The results indicate that there is a large group of Sicilian agritourism providers that have been slow in taking advantage of the new opportunities offered by the Web, whereas another group, which is less numerous, makes use of social networking tools, demonstrating web 2.0 communication.
The COVID-19 pandemic encouraged e-commerce adoption by companies in the fruit and vegetable value chain in response to decreased sales. Despite this, certain challenges for the efficient use of e-commerce persist in the industry. Therefore, this research sought to identify the level of adoption of this business approach in organizations that make part of distribution link of the fruit and vegetable value chain in the city of Bogotá (Colombia). The eMICA methodology was implemented to recognize the challenges for a more competitive management by this sector in the post-pandemic era. Our findings show that organizations in this sector make extensive use of technologies and present a medium degree of maturity regarding e-commerce, making it necessary to improve interaction with customers in order to promote their products. We could establish that the use of social networks and valuable content creation improve marketing processes, while the need to engage more complex variables -such as digital traffic and omnichannel presence-is recognized a limitation for fully understanding the factors associated with e-commerce adoption. a pandemia ocasionada pela COVID-19 impulsionou a adoção do comércio eletrônico como resposta à diminuição nas vendas nas organizações relacionadas à cadeia de valor do setor hortofrutícola.
Agritourism Farms: A Great Way to Promote Local Products
Online communication (Web 2.0) is an important tool that can assist consumers in choosing a service and/or buying a product and, if used effectively, can help businesses to improve organizational performance. This is a study of the websites of a sample of 4,080 Italian agritourism farms, which focuses on the construction, utility, and relative maturity of these businesses. The study entails an exploration of how and where the organization of websites is effective for the promotion of the features of agritourism farms and is therefore essential for providing recommendations for decisionmakers in the Italian agritourism sector. To test the study hypotheses, an extended model of internet commerce adoption (eMICA) is used, which is adapted to include the information reported on each agritourism farm website. Chi-square automatic interaction detection (CHAID) helps to analyze the differences in website design and vacation types on offer at the provincial level. The eMICA highlights the utility of using interactivity to measure the relative maturity of agritourism farm websites. In contrast, the CHAID decision tree shows how the diversification of vacation types is an important strategy for selling local agrifood products, especially to farm accommodation guests.

Evaluation of Corporate Websites and Their Influence on the Performance of Olive Oil Companies
Spain is among the largest producers of organic olive in the world. Yet the Spanish organic olive oil sector faces a major commercial problem due to an internal demand that is too small to match the volume of supply. Factors that explain this problem include the scarcity and scattered nature of points of sale, the lack of information available to consumers, and the very large gulf in the price between organic and nonorganic olive oil. To address these problems, the literature highlights the key commercial role of information and communication technologies (ICTs). The corporate website is a core element around which the company’s e-commerce activity revolves. The goal of this study is to confirm the relationship between business efficiency, measured using data envelopment analysis (DEA), and the quality of the corporate website, measured using the extended Model of Internet Commerce Adoption (eMICA). Although this analysis did not identify a direct relationship between these two variables, fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) revealed that combinations of elements related to corporate website quality (interactivity and processing), organizational, and structural factors (size of firm and outsourcing of ICT management) can have a direct effect on organizational performance, measured in terms of economic efficiency.
Nowadays the role of ICT in business management is a subject of growing interest to both academics and professionals. Web 2.0 has emerged as an important source of innovation that contributes to organizational performance and improving the firm’s competitiveness in the agricultural sector. However, evidence has been found that reveal the difficulties for the entry of these technologies in agribusinesses and their application for effective e-commerce. According to the above, this research seeks to know whether the Web sites of the olive cooperatives facilitate effective communication with their target audiences and are tailored to electronic commerce. In order to do this, it is proposed first of all, a model for the analysis of Web pages oil cooperatives, based on the content analysis technique, considering the dimensions of Information, Communication, e-Commerce and Additional Functions. Secondly the eMICA methodology (Extended Model of Internet Commerce Adoption) applies, to identify opportunities arising from the use of Web 2.0 tools and improve the deficiencies detected for a more competitive management. From the results we can draw that much it remains margin for improvement in the adoption of electronic commerce by Catalan cooperatives in the olive sector. The fact that only 5.8% of websites have reached the stage 3 in the eMica model indicates the low level of functional maturity reached by cooperatives in the development of their Web sites. The results of analysis of web content corroborate these statements.

Ski Tourism and Web Marketing Strategies: The Case of Ski Resorts in France and Spain
The impacts of climate change are affecting ski tourism in Europe’s southernmost ski resorts, such as those in France, and Spain. This is leading to changes in the scheduling of activities which, in turn, imply changes in how ski resorts are managed. The main aim of this work is to analyze whether ski resort websites are developing an effective marketing strategy and if they are adapted to e-commerce and the needs of contemporary society, including the adaptations needed to better face climate change and the stagnation the sector is suffering. In order to achieve this, we have developed a model to analyze ski resort websites; it is based on web content analysis, taking four factors into account: information, communication, e-commerce, and additional functions. We will, secondly, apply the eMICA (Extended Model of Internet Commerce Adoption) methodology to analyze the maturity of such e-commerce activities in ski tourism. Fifty-two ski resorts in Spain and 173 in France were analyzed. Results show that, while alpine ski resorts in general, and those in France in particular, are better prepared, resorts still have to facilitate more effective communication and interaction with their target public. A minority of resorts provide information on environmental certifications and snowmaking.
