In recent years, an increasing number of people have been struggling with chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Experienced pharmacists may play a crucial role in spreading knowledge by explaining what these diseases are and why it is important to take medications correctly. They could provide education in pharmaceutical care and professional counselling, e.g., leaflets that help people better absorb and remember the information. The aim of the study was to assess patients’ knowledge before and after they read the prepared educational materials on asthma and COPD as part of the New Medicine Service (NMS) and to gather their opinions on them. This study was carried out via proprietary questionnaires from March 2023 to January 2024 in Poznan and Lodz. A knowledge test, which was completed by patients before and after they read the brochure on asthma and COPD, was used, as was a satisfaction questionnaire that subjectively evaluated the proposed educational material. The study was conducted in various settings - community pharmacies and general practitioners’ clinics. A total of 690 respondents participated in the study and completed the surveys (350 and 340 regarding asthma and COPD, respectively). < 0.001) and COPD (

< 0.001) after reading the brochure than before, confirming an increase in their knowledge of the subject matter. The respondents also significantly higher rated their self-assessed knowledge of these diseases after reading the leaflets than before. The materials provided for asthma and COPD patients were also highly assessed by the respondents in terms of their interest in them and their aesthetics, clarity, usefulness, and comprehensibility. The described materials on asthma and COPD, which are used as part of the NMS, can be useful in enhancing patients’ knowledge of both conditions. They can complement the service by providing additional information, supporting the treatment process, and helping patients better understand asthma and COPD.

Enhancing Educational Materials: Integrating Emojis and AI Models into Learning Management Systems

The integration of visual elements, such as emojis, into educational content represents a promising approach to enhancing student engagement and comprehension. However, existing efforts in emoji integration often lack systematic frameworks capable of addressing the contextual and pedagogical nuances required for effective implementation. This paper introduces a novel framework that combines Data-Driven Error-Correcting Output Codes (DECOC), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks, and Multi-Layer Deep Neural Networks (ML-DNN) to identify optimal emoji placements within computer science course materials. The originality of the proposed system lies in its ability to leverage sentiment analysis techniques and contextual embeddings to align emoji recommendations with both the emotional tone and learning objectives of course content. A meticulously annotated dataset, comprising diverse topics in computer science, was developed to train and validate the model, ensuring its applicability across a wide range of educational contexts. Comprehensive validation demonstrated the system’s superior performance, achieving an accuracy of 92.4%, precision of 90.7%, recall of 89.3%, and an F1-score of 90.0%. Comparative analysis with baseline models and related works confirms the model’s ability to outperform existing approaches in balancing accuracy, relevance, and contextual appropriateness. Beyond its technical advancements, this framework offers practical benefits for educators by providing an Artificial Intelligence-assisted (AI-assisted) tool that facilitates personalized content adaptation based on student sentiment and engagement patterns. By automating the identification of appropriate emoji placements, teachers can enhance digital course materials with minimal effort, improving the clarity of complex concepts and fostering an emotionally supportive learning environment. This paper contributes to the emerging field of AI-enhanced education by addressing critical gaps in personalized content delivery and pedagogical support. Its findings highlight the transformative potential of integrating AI-driven emoji placement systems into educational materials, offering an innovative tool for fostering student engagement and enhancing learning outcomes. The proposed framework establishes a foundation for future advancements in the visual augmentation of educational resources, emphasizing scalability and adaptability for broader applications in e-learning.

Medication compliance is critical to achieve therapeutic efficacy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis; however, among other factors, low patient-health literacy plays a negative role. Therefore, the development and validation of audiovisual educational material with the participation of health specialists and patients could lead to an improved level of compliance with treatment, while favoring its acceptance. To design and validate audiovisual educational material generated by a multidisciplinary and participative group of patients and health specialists. This study was carried out using a sequential methodology, including qualitative and quantitative techniques: (1) a non-participative observational study with patients and a non-systematic literature search were performed to identify conceptual topics. (2) Pilot videos were qualitatively assessed by patients and health specialists (focus groups and expert committees). (3) Improved versions of seven videos were quantitatively evaluated by patients and specialists following qualitative criteria of attraction, understanding, involvement, acceptance and induction of action. 74 patients with RA, 10 rheumatologists, 4 pharmacists and 2 medical anthropologists participated in the different phases of validation. A total of seven videos lasting 3 min each were generated, incorporating the most relevant suggestions by patients and healthcare professionals. The final version of the videos led to a mean compliance of 96.04 ± 5.2%, according to a representative group of patients and a mean 89.6 ± 9.4%, according to health professionals. With the participation of both patients and health specialists, seven audiovisual educational video recordings were developed and validated, reaching high levels of compliance in accordance with international criteria.

Revolutionizing patient care: assessing ai-created discharge education for total hip replacement patients

Background
Previous research has shown that artificial intelligence (AI) technology is effective in a wide range of applications. Although studies exist in other specialties evaluating AI-generated educational materials, no study was found focusing on Turkish-language discharge education materials specifically for total hip replacement patients. This study was conducted using the ChatGPT 4.0 program for patients who underwent total hip replacement to develop an artificial intelligence-supported discharge education material that patients who will be discharged after surgery can read and understand.
Methods
In this methodological study, expert opinions were obtained while preparing the artificial intelligence-assisted discharge education material for patients who underwent AI-assisted discharge education, and the educational needs of the patients were determined by reviewing the literature. Then, 6 commands were given in the ChatGPT-4 program to create the educational content. The Turkish readability of the created educational content and the readability of the health literature were evaluated using formulas. The validity of the total hip replacement discharge material was presented to 10 experts. Experts assessed the comprehensibility and applicability of the educational material using the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool and the Global Quality Scale, which assesses the quality of educational materials.
Results
It was concluded that the readability index of the total hip replacement discharge education material for Turkish was 69.5, and the Turkish readability level was “easily understandable”. The readability index of health literature was 9.30, 7.90, 8.09, 60.0, and 10.00, respectively. When the internal consistency coefficient between the experts was examined, it was 0.84. It was determined that the Patient Education Materials Evaluation Tool understandability score average was 80.60 ± 9.74, and the actionability score average was 77.4 ± 19.10. The Global Quality Scale (GQS) score average was found to be 4.20 ± 0.79 (range: 3–5).
Conclusion
At the end of the study, it was determined that the educational material was adequate in terms of understandability and actionability. The Turkish readability level was also reasonable and easily understandable.

Introduction: Educational material is a key strategy for primary health care promotion. Purpose: To design and validate educational material adapted to the population and aimed to increase knowledge about adherence to the treatment of arterial hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Methodology: Methodological study for the design of educational material for people with diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. For the design, content validity tests were carried out, with the participation of six experts in health education and six patients with chronic diseases. Validation was performed pursuant to the attraction, understanding, engagement, and acceptance criteria. Results: The validation confirmed that all items and criteria were above the minimal expected range. Conclusion: The design and validation of educational material provide elements that improve the education of patients about their pathologies and their adherence to treatment.
