ANTHROPOCENE TIME
Beginning with the question of how a sense of geological time remains strangely withdrawn in contemporary discussions of the Anthropocene in the human sciences and yields place to the more human-centered time of world history, this article proceeds to discuss the differences between human-historical time and the time of geology as they relate to the concept of the Anthropocene. The article discusses the difficulty of developing a mode of thinking about the present that would attempt to hold together these two rather different senses of time and ends with a ground-clearing exercise that might enable the development of such thought.

AGAINST PERIODIZATION: KOSELLECK'S THEORY OF MULTIPLE TEMPORALITIES
In this essay I intend to flesh out and discuss what I consider to be the groundbreaking contribution by the German historian and theorist of history Reinhart Koselleck to postwar historiography: his theory of historical times. I begin by discussing the view, so prominent in the Anglophone context, that Koselleck's idea of the plurality of historical times can be grasped only in terms of a plurality of historical periods in chronological succession, and hence, that Koselleck's theory of historical times is in reality a theory of periodization. Against this interpretation, to be found in works by Kathleen Davis, Peter Osborne, and Lynn Hunt, among others, I will argue that not only is Koselleck's theory of historical times, or, with a more phenomenlogical turn of phrase, his theory of multiple temporalities, not a theory of periodization, it is, furthermore, a theory developed to defy periodization. Hence, at the core of Koselleck's work is the attempt to replace the idea of linear, homogeneous time with a more complex, heterogeneous, and multilayered notion of temporality. In this essay I will demonstrate how this shift is achieved by means of three dichotomies: between natural and historical, extralinguistic and intralinguistic, and diachronic and synchronic time.

Self-Organizing Traffic Flow Prediction with an Optimized Deep Belief Network for Internet of Vehicles
To assist in the broadcasting of time-critical traffic information in an Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and vehicular sensor networks (VSN), fast network connectivity is needed. Accurate traffic information prediction can improve traffic congestion and operation efficiency, which helps to reduce commute times, noise and carbon emissions. In this study, we present a novel approach for predicting the traffic flow volume by using traffic data in self-organizing vehicular networks. The proposed method is based on using a probabilistic generative neural network techniques called deep belief network (DBN) that includes multiple layers of restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM) auto-encoders. Time series data generated from the roadside units (RSUs) for five highway links are used by a three layer DBN to extract and learn key input features for constructing a model to predict traffic flow. Back-propagation is utilized as a general learning algorithm for fine-tuning the weight parameters among the visible and hidden layers of RBMs. During the training process the firefly algorithm (FFA) is applied for optimizing the DBN topology and learning rate parameter. Monte Carlo simulations are used to assess the accuracy of the prediction model. The results show that the proposed model achieves superior performance accuracy for predicting traffic flow in comparison with other approaches applied in the literature. The proposed approach can help to solve the problem of traffic congestion, and provide guidance and advice for road users and traffic regulators.

KOSELLECK ON MODERNITY, HISTORIK, AND LAYERS OF TIME
In the scholarly reception of his work, Reinhart Koselleck’s notion of modernity and his theory of multiple times have been cast as essentially at odds with each other. This article argues that although these positions are valid, Koselleck’s writings can also accommodate an interpretation according to which the theory of multiple temporalities, or “layers of time,” provides theoretical ground for the modern understanding of time and history. Elaborating on this insight, the article shows the linkages sustaining the unity between Koselleck’s formal theory of multiple times and his interpretation of modernity. To that end, I outline the main premises of the temporalization thesis that lies at the heart of Koselleck’s theory of modernity, scrutinize his notion of Historik within which the framework “layers of time” belongs, and explore Niklas Olsen’s and Helge Jordheim’s interpretive accounts on how to conceive of the relationship between the two strands in Koselleck’s thought. Ultimately, I argue that “layers of time” entails the formal conditions for historical acceleration, which is crucial for explaining the emergence of a specifically modern temporality wherein experience and expectation increasingly grow apart.

Tracing the development of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performs: a systematic review and bibliometric analysis
This point of view converses the raise of environmental, social and governance (ESG) performs in digitization, FinTech’s mostly based on bibliometric research and systematic literature review. The purpose was to offer an overview of significant trends, required actors and thematic viewpoints in ESG research from 2012 to 2024. The search outcomes were then screened over 406 peer-reviewed articles, which were separated into three-time groups: inscription 2012–2016, 2017–2020 and 2021–2024. Methods involved bibliometric mapping recognizing lead mentors/authors/journals, global distribution and qualitative combination of common themes/trends over time. Among the most motivating consequences are those on how virtual goods and FinTech developments have unfair ESG standards in themes such as sustainability reporting, helpful for people in corporate governance or even social responsibility. The survey reproduces other wide-ranging changes over time, such as a greater attention on legislative frameworks and completely technical ESG solutions. The empirical indication in this paper delivers nuanced and refined data on the relationship between technological improvement and ESG development, which is a valued addition for further studies. This study will contribute to the literature investigative ESG during the digital era by combining both quantitative and qualitative data without being relevant to university students and consultants.
