Catheter Injectable Multifunctional Biomaterial for the Treatment of Infected Enterocutaneous Fistulas (Adv. Sci. 20/2025)
Catheter Injectable Multifunctional Biomaterial Enterocutaneous fistulas are often challenging to treat and are associated with a poor quality of life. In article number 2414642, Rahmi Oklu and co‐workers show that an injectable biomaterial can occlude the fistula and at the same time sterilize the tract and promote healing.
Delivery of A Chemically Modified Noncoding RNA Domain Improves Dystrophic Myotube Function (Adv. Sci. 20/2025)
Muscle RNA CYTOR is a pro‐myogenic long noncoding RNA in skeletal muscle. Chemical probing of CYTOR identifies exon 2 as an independent myogenic domain that promotes muscle function. Chemical engineering of the myogenic exon 2 RNA improves pharmacologic properties (RNA stability, immunogenicity) and delivery of the chemically‐enhanced, synthetic RNA domain improves disease characteristics in myotubes derived from Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients. More details can be found in article number 2410908 by Martin Wohlwend and co‐workers.
Artificial Cornea Substitute Based on Hydrogel Skeletons with Natural Stromal Hierarchical Structure and Extracellular Matrix for Sutureless Transplantation (Adv. Sci. 19/2025)
Artificial Cornea Substitutes In article number 2411540, Qingjun Zhou, Ting Wang, Weiyun Shi, and co‐workers present a humanized corneal substitute using porcine‐cornea templated hydrogel skeletons infused with human ECM and GelMA, achieving light‐activated adhesion. By replicating native stromal hierarchy, it possesses optical/mechanical properties similar to those of natural corneas, and promotes epithelial regeneration and stromal integration. It offers a promising solution to donor shortages and transplant complications.
Cyclo‐N9−: a Novel 5/6 Fused Polynitrogen Anion for High Energy Density Materials (Adv. Sci. 19/2025)
Polynitrogen Anion In article number 2414394, Yuangang Xu, Ming Lu, and co‐workers present a novel 5/6 fused polynitrogen anion, cyclo‐N9−, following the cyclo‐pentazolate anion. Four ionic systems derived from this framework exhibit exceptional energy density and detonation performance, surpassing even CL‐20, making them highly promising candidate energetic materials with significant research value. This research provides valuable theoretical insights into the advancement of polynitrogen species synthesis.
