UN REY PAPARA EL OLVIDO: LA FIGURA DE ALFREDO EL GRANDE A TRAVÉS DE LA PAPANTALLA
2021

2024
Background:Previous studies have identified the association between classroom social status and bullying victimization, but it remains unclear how different victimization trajectories relate separately to social status dimensions: preference (acceptance and rejection) and popularity (popular and unpopular), and whether there are differences between victimization trajectory groups. This study assumed a longitudinal approach to explore these research questions. Method:A total of 3.182 (50% girls; M= 12.55 years at wave 1) students participated in the study. Results:Four bullying victimization trajectory groups were found: high, decreasing, increasing and low in victimization. Multigroup analyses showed that high in victimization group had the worst acceptance, rejection, and unpopularity indexes. The decreasing victimization group increased in acceptance and popularity, whereas the increasing victimization group increased in rejection and popularity. Conclusions:These results underline the importance of considering the different dimensions of social status and their association with victimization trajectories when anti-bullying programs are proposed.

A block model for node popularity in networks with community structure
2018
The community structure that is observed in empirical networks has been of particular interest in the statistics literature, with a strong emphasis on the study of block models. We study an important network feature called node popularity, which is closely associated with community structure. Neither the classical stochastic block model nor its degree-corrected extension can satisfactorily capture the dynamics of node popularity as observed in empirical networks. We propose a popularity-adjusted block model for flexible and realistic modelling of node popularity. We establish consistency of likelihood modularity for community detection as well as estimation of node popularities and model parameters, and demonstrate the advantages of the new modularity over the degree-corrected block model modularity in simulations. By analysing the political blogs network, the British Members of Parliament network and the 'Digital bibliography and library project' bibliographical network, we illustrate that improved empirical insights can be gained through this methodology.

How, and with what implications, did the use of Wagner PMC become one of the chief tools at Russia’s disposal?
2026
The War in Ukraine has seen the private military company Wagner PMC used as a useful tool that has brought an additional presence into the war; however, the recent history and popularity of private military companies are in no way limited to Russia or Eastern Europe. This article investigates how the private military company known as Wagner PMC obtained such a favored position in the application of the Russian Federation’s foreign policy goals, and ultimately seeks to understand both how Wagner PMC evolved in such a fashion that yielded their status (before their fall from grace and downfall with the Wagner Rebellion in 2023) as one of Russia’s chief tools for use in their military missions, and the wider implications of this timeline.
