O agronegócio, passível de abordagem no ensino de ciências, é uma atividade econômica relacionada ao comércio de produtos agrícolas que se pauta pela lógica capitalista do lucro. Na Amazônia, vemos uma expansão da fronteira agrícola com a ocupação de terras e mudanças no uso do solo. No desvelamento dos passivos que advém desse empreendimento na Amazônia, conduzimos no contexto de uma pesquisa-formação, uma experiência de ação pedagógica no agir comunicativo, tendo o diálogo como fundamentadas interações na tematização do agronegócio. A pesquisa-formação, de natureza qualitativa, foi desenvolvida com estudantes da Licenciatura Integrada em Ciências, Matemática e Linguagens, da Universidade Federal do Pará, cuja estratégia metodológica da ação foi representada pelo painel integrado. A apreciação dos resultados da pesquisa (manifestações dos estudantes) foi pautada pela análise de conteúdo, precisamente pela técnica de análise de enunciação. Os resultados apontaram que a ação pedagógica comunicativa possibilitou aos estudantes perceberem ligações (in)visíveis dos distintos aspectos do agronegócio na Amazônia, logrando a superação da consciência ingênua, para uma consciência crítica, no desvelamento das contradições da realidade socioambiental da Amazônia, importantes para a educação em Ciências. A prática educativa, baseada no agir comunicativo, favoreceu a emancipação, o autoesclarecimento e o pensar de caminhos diferentes para transformar a realidade, plausível ao cenário social e ambiental da Amazônia. A ação educativa contra hegemônica suscitou posicionamentos contrários à colonização do mundo da vida. Certamente porque, nos negamos a agir numa perspectiva instrumental, a favor de uma racionalidade comunicativa.

Conflicto hídrico y defensa territorial: mujeres en el Movimiento Campesino de Santiago del Estero, Argentina

América Latina se encuentra atravesando hoy, en grado preocupante, el avance del modelo extractivo-exportador, el cual agrava los conflictos distributivos asociados a los recursos territoriales e hídricos. Frente a estos procesos, se han articulado resistencias ambientales conformadas por poblaciones campesino-indígenas vulneradas, que se oponen al paradigma productivista planteando éticas de desarrollo sostenible. Este trabajo parte del caso etnográfico de Santiago del Estero, una provincia del centro-norte de Argentina, tradicionalmente considerada como “improductiva”, la cual ha resultado drásticamente afectada por la agriculturización. Allí, las poblaciones perjudicadas por procesos de acaparamiento de tierras, desalojos y contaminación ambiental han conformado el Movimiento Campesino de Santiago del Estero (Mo.Ca.Se). Desde una perspectiva de género y un abordaje antropológico centrado en observaciones y entrevistas, se explora el impacto de las injusticias ambientales, específicamente el de la injusticia hídrica, en las comunidades campesino-indígenas y en la sobrevulneración que implica para las mujeres y niñas. Se concluye que las mujeres ocupan un rol trascendental en las estrategias de resiliencia de sus comunidades, dentro de un contexto de escasez, violencias y despojos. A la vez, otro de los hallazgos radica en que la defensa territorial organizada de manera colectiva favorece su situación en relación con el acceso al agua y otros recursos, mediante la generación de redes y alianzas más amplias, incluso a escala transnacional.

Gestión estatal del conflicto socio-ambiental de \Tía María\ en Perú
Este artículo busca comprender la gestión estatal de uno de los conflictos socio-ambientales más emblemáticos de Perú: el conflicto de “Tía María”. Para ello nos preguntamos cómo fue el desempeño del Estado en la gestión del conflicto, y cómo él influyó en la evolución del conflicto en un país que registra más de 8600 pasivos ambientales mineros. Entre los principales hallazgos se encuentran: deficiencias en la capacidad de gestión estatal; desarticulación y centralismo del gobierno; pérdida de imparcialidad; Estado ausente; falta de capacidades legales y administrativas; pérdida de capacidad para canalizar demandas de la población; Pérdida de capacidad técnica para evaluar proyectos mineros; gestión deficiente de la fuerza policial bajo un enfoque de criminalización de la protesta.

Conocimiento como causa y medio de resistencia a la minería de gran escala: casos heurísticos del Ecuador

En este artículo se argumenta cómo la producción de conocimiento se ha convertido en una práctica central en los procesos de resistencia y oposición a proyectos mineros de gran escala. Se parte de la observación de que, más allá de la resistencia, los conflictos socioambientales que emergen en torno de la extracción de minerales abarcan la producción y circulación de conocimiento. Mediante tal conocimiento, los actores que se oponen a dichos proyectos buscan influir en las decisiones políticas correspondientes a la gobernanza de recursos naturales, territorios y personas. No todo tipo de conocimiento es calificado como legítimo ni está distribuido equitativamente en estas luchas. ¿Por qué existen estas asimetrías epistémicas y cómo se relacionan con procesos de lucha más amplios en contra de la dominación, desposesión y control?; estas preguntas se explican por medio de aportes teóricos de la sociología del conocimiento, el pensamiento decolonial latinoamericano y la corriente feminista de los estudios de ciencia, tecnología y sociedad. A partir de estas dinámicas epistémicas, relativamente innovadoras, se analizan tres casos heurísticos en Ecuador: Intag, Azuay y Cordillera del Cóndor. Con dichos casos se demuestra que la producción de conocimiento (contestatario) es una forma importante de agencia para rebatir los efectos socioambientales que acarrea la apertura de nuevas áreas para la extracción de minerales a gran escala.

AS TRANSFORMAÇÕES DE FRANCIS CHATEAURAYNAUD: PERCEPÇÃO E REFLEXIVIDADE NA SEGUNDA ONDA DA SOCIOLOGIA PRAGMÁTICA FRANCESA
Resumo O artigo apresenta uma revisão da obra de Francis Chateauraynaud, contextualizando o autor no âmbito da sociologia pragmática francesa e discutindo suas principais contribuições para tal corrente. Chateauraynaud desponta como um dos principais nomes desse movimento surgido na França em meados da década de 1980, participando ativamente de sua renovação a partir da década seguinte. No artigo enfatiza-se o aspecto teórico da sua obra, em especial a complexificação da reflexão pragmática sobre a produção da crítica, o que o autor faz, principalmente, a partir de uma síntese dos elementos perceptivo e dialógico da ação social. Dessa forma, ele acompanha o desdobramento de sua sociologia da percepção em uma pragmática das transformações. Abstract This article presents a review of the work of Francis Chateauraynaud, situating the author within the context of French pragmatic sociology and discussing his main contributions to the current. Chateauraynaud stands out as one of the main names of this movement that emerged in mid-1980s France, participating actively in its renewal from the following decade. Emphasis is given in the article to the theoretical dimension of his work, especially the complexification of the pragmatic reflection on the production of critique, which the author primarily does through a synthesis of the perceptual and dialogical elements of social action. In the process, the article accompanies the evolution of his sociology of perception into a pragmatics of transformations.

Problemas socioambientales: concepciones del profesorado en formación inicial

El vertiginoso ritmo de cambio de las últimas décadas, plantea necesariamente una nueva forma de entender y relacionarse con el planeta, donde la educación tiene mucho que decir. El presente estudio establece como objetivo describir las concepciones referentes a los problemas socio-ambientales del profesorado en formación inicial, a través de una muestra de 144 estudiantes universitarios del grado de educación primaria en las universidades españolas de Sevilla y Extremadura, durante el curso académico 2014-2015. Los resultados obtenidos con el cuestionario de preguntas abiertas, aunque esperanzadores, muestran un largo camino en el que seguir trabajando. El currículum educativo, la organización escolar y las familias, se detectan como dificultades para abrir puertas entre la escuela y su entorno.

Theory of planned behavior to understand pro-environmental behavior among Universiti Malaya students

Due to industrialization and urbanization, the world is experiencing environmental degradation at an alarming rate. Irresponsible human behaviors have caused environmental concerns that are drastically affecting the natural ecosystem. To ensure a sustainable future for all, pro-environmental behavior should be practiced among university students to protect and conserve the environment. The objective of the study is to determine the key factors affecting pro-environmental behavior among Universiti Malaya (UM) students. A theoretical framework, theory of planned behavior (TPB), was introduced to examine whether environmental attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control have significant effects on intention and on pro-environmental behavior. Data collected from 394 respondents via online questionnaire was then examined using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The results show that environmental attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control have significant impact on the intention to adopt pro-environmental behavior among UM students. The results indicate that perceived behavioral control did not significantly influence pro-environmental behavior among UM students. The study also revealed that no significant difference was shown in gender and study background towards pro-environmental behavior. These findings assist higher education institutions in formulating polices, strategies and planning to enhance environmental behavior among the students. They also offer new insights and comprehensive information for researchers in conducting research related to environment behavior.

Graduate student perspectives on transforming academia

Higher education institutions have long played a key role in solving society's most pressing problems. However, as the scale and complexity of socio‐environmental problems has grown, there has been a renewed debate about the role that academic institutions should play in developing solutions and how institutional structures should be redesigned to encourage greater interdisciplinarity. In the following pages, we present a graduate student perspective on this debate. Specifically, we identify challenges facing interdisciplinary graduate student researchers and present a series of recommendations for how institutions can better prepare them to become the next generation of leaders in interdisciplinary, action‐oriented research focused on solving socio‐environmental problems. Higher education institutions have long played a key role in solving society's most pressing problems. However, as the scale and complexity of socio‐environmental problems has grown, there has been a renewed debate about the role that academic institutions should play in developing solutions and how institutional structures should be redesigned to encourage greater interdisciplinarity. In the following pages, we present a series of recommendations for how institutions can better prepare them to become the next generation of leaders in interdisciplinary, action‐oriented research focused on solving socio‐environmental problems.

In arid and semiarid regions, where few if any trees are native, city trees are largely human planted. Societal factors such as resident preferences for tree traits, nursery offerings, and neighborhood characteristics are potentially key drivers of urban tree community composition and diversity, however, they remain critically understudied. We investigated patterns of urban tree structure in residential neighborhoods of the Salt Lake Valley, Utah, combining biological variables, such as neighborhood and plant nursery tree species and trait composition, and sociological data comprised of resident surveys and U.S. Census data. We sampled nine neighborhoods that varied in household income and age of homes. We found more tree species were offered in locally owned nurseries compared with mass merchandiser stores and yard trees at private residences were more diverse than public street trees in the same neighborhoods. There were significant differences among neighborhoods in street and yard tree composition. Newer neighborhoods differed from older neighborhoods in street tree species composition and trait diversity, while neighborhoods varying in affluence differed in yard tree composition. Species richness of yard trees was positively correlated with neighborhood household income, while species richness of street trees was negatively correlated with home age of neighborhood residences. Tree traits differed across neighborhoods of varying ages, suggesting different tree availability and preferences over time. Last, there was a positive correlation between resident preferences for tree attributes and the number of trees that had those attributes both in residential yards and in nursery offerings. Strong relationships between social variables and urban tree composition provides evidence that resident preferences and nursery offerings affect patterns of biodiversity in cities across Salt Lake Valley. These findings can be applied toward efforts to increase taxonomic and functional diversity of city trees in semiarid regions in ways that will also provide ecosystem services of most interest to residents.

Water resources sustainability hinges upon an efficient and effective regulatory compliance and enforcement strategy that steers the collective actions of interdependent stakeholders. Achieving this goal is particularly challenging for groundwater due to its hidden nature, significant knowledge gaps about its state, its status as a common‐pool resource, the value‐laden nature of compliance, and historically under‐resourced enforcement efforts. To address these challenges, this article introduces BEACON, a framework grounded in theories and empirical findings from regulatory compliance and enforcement research, to conceptualize farmers' compliance behaviors with existing groundwater allocation rules within the New South Wales regulatory context. Building on this foundation, we then present an ABM and apply it through a GSA to unravel the dynamics of compliance, enforcement, and deterrence of groundwater allocations. Findings reveal how increasing investments in surveillance trigger a consistent, nonlinear response in regulatory compliance and illegal water take. On the whole, BEACON and its implementation via the ABM stand as Regulatory Technology tools, aiming to provide new insights into the often assumed links between well‐crafted regulations and their outcomes and, in doing so, pave the way for innovative approaches in regulatory policy design and implementation for groundwater sustainability.
