Remote Sensing Image Classification Based on Stacked Denoising Autoencoder
Focused on the issue that conventional remote sensing image classification methods have run into the bottlenecks in accuracy, a new remote sensing image classification method inspired by deep learning is proposed, which is based on Stacked Denoising Autoencoder. First, the deep network model is built through the stacked layers of Denoising Autoencoder. Then, with noised input, the unsupervised Greedy layer-wise training algorithm is used to train each layer in turn for more robust expressing, characteristics are obtained in supervised learning by Back Propagation (BP) neural network, and the whole network is optimized by error back propagation. Finally, Gaofen-1 satellite (GF-1) remote sensing data are used for evaluation, and the total accuracy and kappa accuracy reach 95.7% and 0.955, respectively, which are higher than that of the Support Vector Machine and Back Propagation neural network. The experiment results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the accuracy of remote sensing image classification.
An Anomaly Detection Method for UAV Based on Wavelet Decomposition and Stacked Denoising Autoencoder
The paper proposes an anomaly detection method for UAVs based on wavelet decomposition and stacked denoising autoencoder. This method takes the negative impact of noisy data and the feature extraction capabilities of deep learning models into account. It aims to improve the accuracy of the proposed anomaly detection method with wavelet decomposition and stacked denoising autoencoder methods. Anomaly detection based on UAV flight data is an important method of UAV condition monitoring and potential abnormal state mining, which is an important means to reduce the risk of UAV flight accidents. However, the diversity of UAV mission scenarios leads to a complex and harsh environment, so the acquired data are affected by noise, which brings challenges to accurate anomaly detection based on UAV data. Firstly, we use wavelet decomposition to denoise the original data; then, we used the stacked denoising autoencoder to achieve feature extraction. Finally, the softmax classifier is used to realize the anomaly detection of UAV. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method still has good performance in the case of noisy data. Specifically, the Accuracy reaches 97.53%, the Precision is 97.50%, the Recall is 91.81%, and the F1-score is 94.57%. Furthermore, the proposed method outperforms the four comparison models with more outstanding performance. Therefore, it has significant potential in reducing UAV flight accidents and enhancing operational safety.
A Robust Wi-Fi Fingerprint Positioning Algorithm Using Stacked Denoising Autoencoder and Multi-Layer Perceptron
With the increasing demand for location-based services, Wi-Fi-based indoor positioning technology has attracted much attention in recent years because of its ubiquitous deployment and low cost. Considering that Wi-Fi signals fluctuate greatly with time, extracting robust features of Wi-Fi signals is the key point to maintaining good positioning accuracy. To handle the dynamic fluctuation with time and sparsity of Wi-Fi signals, we propose an SDAE (Stacked Denoising Autoencoder)-based feature extraction method, which can obtain a robust and time-independent Wi-Fi fingerprint by learning the reconstruction distribution from a raw Wi-Fi signal and an artificial-noise-added Wi-Fi signal. We also leverage the strong representation ability of MLP (Multi-Layer Perceptron) to build a regression model, which maps the extracted features to the corresponding location. To fully evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm, three datasets are applied, which represent three different scenarios, namely, spacious area with time interval, no time interval, and complex area with large time interval. The experimental results confirm the validity of our proposed SDAE-based feature extraction method, which can accurately reflect Wi-Fi signals in corresponding locations. Compared with other regression models, our proposed regression model can better map the extracted features to the target position. The average positioning error of our proposed algorithm is 4.24 m when there is a 52-day interval between training dataset and testing dataset. That confirms that the proposed algorithm outperforms other state-of-the-art positioning algorithms when there is a large time interval between training dataset and testing dataset.
Non-Mutually Exclusive Deep Neural Network Classifier for Combined Modes of Bearing Fault Diagnosis
The simultaneous occurrence of various types of defects in bearings makes their diagnosis more challenging owing to the resultant complexity of the constituent parts of the acoustic emission (AE) signals. To address this issue, a new approach is proposed in this paper for the detection of multiple combined faults in bearings. The proposed methodology uses a deep neural network (DNN) architecture to effectively diagnose the combined defects. The DNN structure is based on the stacked denoising autoencoder non-mutually exclusive classifier (NMEC) method for combined modes. The NMEC-DNN is trained using data for a single fault and it classifies both single faults and multiple combined faults. The results of experiments conducted on AE data collected through an experimental test-bed demonstrate that the DNN achieves good classification performance with a maximum accuracy of 95%. The proposed method is compared with a multi-class classifier based on support vector machines (SVMs). The NMEC-DNN yields better diagnostic performance in comparison to the multi-class classifier based on SVM. The NMEC-DNN reduces the number of necessary data collections and improves the bearing fault diagnosis performance.
PRPI-SC: an ensemble deep learning model for predicting plant lncRNA-protein interactions
Background Plant long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play vital roles in many biological processes mainly through interactions with RNA-binding protein (RBP). To understand the function of lncRNAs, a fundamental method is to identify which types of proteins interact with the lncRNAs. However, the models or rules of interactions are a major challenge when calculating and estimating the types of RBP. Results In this study, we propose an ensemble deep learning model to predict plant lncRNA-protein interactions using stacked denoising autoencoder and convolutional neural network based on sequence and structural information, named PRPI-SC. PRPI-SC predicts interactions between lncRNAs and proteins based on the k-mer features of RNAs and proteins. Experiments proved good results on Arabidopsis thaliana and Zea mays datasets (ATH948 and ZEA22133). The accuracy rates of ATH948 and ZEA22133 datasets were 88.9% and 82.6%, respectively. PRPI-SC also performed well on some public RNA protein interaction datasets. Conclusions PRPI-SC accurately predicts the interaction between plant lncRNA and protein, which plays a guiding role in studying the function and expression of plant lncRNA. At the same time, PRPI-SC has a strong generalization ability and good prediction effect for non-plant data.
Semi-Supervised Cross-Subject Emotion Recognition Based on Stacked Denoising Autoencoder Architecture Using a Fusion of Multi-Modal Physiological Signals
In recent decades, emotion recognition has received considerable attention. As more enthusiasm has shifted to the physiological pattern, a wide range of elaborate physiological emotion data features come up and are combined with various classifying models to detect one’s emotional states. To circumvent the labor of artificially designing features, we propose to acquire affective and robust representations automatically through the Stacked Denoising Autoencoder (SDA) architecture with unsupervised pre-training, followed by supervised fine-tuning. In this paper, we compare the performances of different features and models through three binary classification tasks based on the Valence-Arousal-Dominance (VAD) affection model. Decision fusion and feature fusion of electroencephalogram (EEG) and peripheral signals are performed on hand-engineered features; data-level fusion is performed on deep-learning methods. It turns out that the fusion data perform better than the two modalities. To take advantage of deep-learning algorithms, we augment the original data and feed it directly into our training model. We use two deep architectures and another generative stacked semi-supervised architecture as references for comparison to test the method’s practical effects. The results reveal that our scheme slightly outperforms the other three deep feature extractors and surpasses the state-of-the-art of hand-engineered features.
An adaptive hierarchical hybrid kernel ELM optimized by aquila optimizer algorithm for bearing fault diagnosis
As a critical component of rotating machinery, the operating status of rolling bearings is not only related to significant economic interests but also has a far-reaching impact on social security. Hence, ensuring an effective diagnosis of faults in rolling bearings is paramount in maintaining operational integrity. This paper proposes an intelligent bearing fault diagnosis method that improves classification accuracy using a stacked denoising autoencoder (SDAE) and adaptive hierarchical hybrid kernel extreme learning machine (AHHKELM). First, a hybrid kernel extreme learning machine (HKELM) is initially constructed, leveraging SDAE’s deep network architecture for automatic feature extraction. The hybrid kernel functions address the limitations of single kernel functions by effectively capturing both linear and nonlinear patterns in the data. Subsequently, the hierarchical hybrid kernel extreme learning machine (HHKELM) is refined through an enhanced Aquila Optimizer (AO) algorithm, which iteratively optimizes the kernel hyperparameter combination. The AO algorithm is further enhanced by incorporating chaos mapping, implementing a refined balanced search strategy, and fine-tuning parameter , which collectively improve its ability to escape local optima and conduct global searches, thus strengthening the robustness of the model during parameter optimization. Experimental results on the CWRU , MFPT and JNU datasets demonstrate that stacked denoising autoencoder-adaptive hierarchical hybrid kernel extreme learning machine (SDAE-AHHKELM) has better fault classification accuracy, robustness, and generalization than KELM and other methods.
A deep learning-based conditional system health index method to reduce the uncertainty of remaining useful life prediction
Many recent data-driven studies have used sensor profile data for prognostics and health management (PHM). However, existing data-driven PHM techniques are vulnerable to three types of uncertainty: sensor noise inherent to the sensor profile data, uncertainty regarding the current health status diagnosis caused by monitoring a single health index (HI), and uncertainty in predicting the remaining useful life (RUL), which is affected by unpredictable changes in system operating conditions and the future external environment. This study proposes a deep conditional health index extraction network (DCHIEN) for PHM to effectively manage these three types of uncertainty. DCHIEN is a model that combines a stacked denoising autoencoder that extracts high-level features robust to sensor noise with a feed-forward neural network that produces an HI based on user-defined monitoring conditions. This approach supports system health monitoring using the conditional HI, as well as prognostics using RUL interval predictions. Extensive experiments were conducted using NASA’s turbofan engine degradation dataset. The results show that the proposed method achieves a superior RUL prediction performance compared to state-of-the-art methods and that uncertainties can be effectively managed.
Fault Diagnosis of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Based on Stacked Denoising Autoencoder
As a complex field-circuit coupling system comprised of electric, magnetic and thermal machines, the permanent magnet synchronous motor of the electric vehicle has various operating conditions and complicated condition environment. There are various forms of failure, and the signs of failure are crossed or overlapped. Randomness, secondary, concurrency and communication characteristics make it difficult to diagnose faults. Meanwhile, the common intelligent diagnosis methods have low accuracy, poor generalization ability and difficulty in processing high-dimensional data. This paper proposes a method of fault feature extraction for motor based on the principle of stacked denoising autoencoder (SDAE) combined with the support vector machine (SVM) classifier. First, the motor signals collected from the experiment were processed, and the input data were randomly damaged by adding noise. Furthermore, according to the experimental results, the network structure of stacked denoising autoencoder was constructed, the optimal learning rate, noise reduction coefficient and the other network parameters were set. Finally, the trained network was used to verify the test samples. Compared with the traditional fault extraction method and single autoencoder method, this method has the advantages of better accuracy, strong generalization ability and easy-to-deal-with high-dimensional data features.
Deep Fault Recognizer: An Integrated Model to Denoise and Extract Features for Fault Diagnosis in Rotating Machinery
Fault diagnosis in rotating machinery is significant to avoid serious accidents; thus, an accurate and timely diagnosis method is necessary. With the breakthrough in deep learning algorithm, some intelligent methods, such as deep belief network (DBN) and deep convolution neural network (DCNN), have been developed with satisfactory performances to conduct machinery fault diagnosis. However, only a few of these methods consider properly dealing with noises that exist in practical situations and the denoising methods are in need of extensive professional experiences. Accordingly, rethinking the fault diagnosis method based on deep architectures is essential. Hence, this study proposes an automatic denoising and feature extraction method that inherently considers spatial and temporal correlations. In this study, an integrated deep fault recognizer model based on the stacked denoising autoencoder (SDAE) is applied to both denoise random noises in the raw signals and represent fault features in fault pattern diagnosis for both bearing rolling fault and gearbox fault, and trained in a greedy layer-wise fashion. Finally, the experimental validation demonstrates that the proposed method has better diagnosis accuracy than DBN, particularly in the existing situation of noises with superiority of approximately 7% in fault diagnosis accuracy.
