Autism Traits, Sensory Over-Responsivity, Anxiety, and Stress: A Test of Explanatory Models
The relationship between autistic traits, stress, and anxiety experienced by the general population was investigated using an adult sample that evaluated the suitability of three theoretical models proposed by Green and Ben-Sasson. Participants completed online questionnaires that were analysed using structural equation modelling and partial correlation analyses. Of the models tested, the model that proposed SOR and stress as mediators of the relationship between autistic traits and anxiety was able to explain the variance in the data better than the other models. Based on these findings, we suggest that sensory neutral environments should be considered for the prevention and management of anxiety and stress symptoms for people in the general population with higher levels of autistic traits.
Testing the effect–response framework: key response and effect traits determining above-ground biomass of salt marshes
Question: How do species traits respond to environmental conditions and what is their effect on ecosystem properties? Location: Salt marshes, Northwest Germany. Methods: On 113 plots along the German mainland coast and on one island, we measured environmental parameters (soil nutrient content, inundation frequency, groundwater level and salinity), collected traits from 242 individuals (specific leaf area [SLA], whole plant C:N ratio, and dry weights of plant organs) and sampled above-ground biomass as an ecosystem property. We constructed a path model combining environmental parameters, functional traits at community level and above-ground biomass, which was tested against a dependence model using path analysis; model fit was evaluated by structural equation modelling (SEM). Results: The final model showed good consistency with the data and highlights the major role of groundwater level, salinity and nutrient availability as the most important factors influencing biomass allocation in salt marshes. Above-ground living biomass was mostly determined by stem biomass, which was mediated through an allometric allocation of biomass to all other plant organs, including leaf mass. C:N ratio and SLA were the major drivers for dead biomass. Conclusion: We emphasize an indirect link between standing biomass and environmental conditions and recognize stem biomass, plant C:N ratio and SLA as keystone markers of species functioning in determining the relationship between environment and ecosystem properties.
For many health care structures, Electronic Health Record (HER) is an enterprise reengineering solution, which has the capacity to better respond to organisational change. Adopting these digital solutions can offer to health and social organizations an integrated management framework. Thus, it is interesting to assess the impact of such solutions on management practices and public servants’ work. This research aims particularly at analyzing the consequences of using an EHR in the National Health Insurance Fund of Tunisia. An exploratory quantitative study, based on DeLone and McLean’s (1992, 2003) IS success evaluation Model, is conducted on a sample of 137 EHR users. The observed results, following the application of the structural equation modeling, underline the consequences and organizational changes of the implementation of this medical technology at user and group levels.
DÉVELOPPEMENT D'UN MODÈLE DE MESURE SUR LA CONFIANCE DES CONSOMMATEURS EN LIGNE: UN PROJET DE CANEVAS POUR LES INSTITUTIONS FINANCIÈRES CANADIENNES
This paper introduces a measurement model based on online consumer confidence to the information posted on internet by Canadian financial institutions. The model presents a third level confirmatory factor analysis of 'on line confidence' latent variable for the financial institution and the latent variable would be break downed in two second level latent variables, 'honesty' and 'confidentiality'. The latent variable 'honesty' will be as well divided in two first level latent variables, 'benevolence' and 'competence'. This model fits perfectly well and introduces a canvas for online user confidence over all services offered in internet by all major Canadian financial institutions. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
Modelos Alternativos De Grit: Exploraciones Sobre Las Propiedades Psicométricas De Grit-S y El Rendimiento Académico
Grit, the passion for achieving long-term goals, has been conceived as a two-dimensional construct (Consistency of interest and Perseverance of effort). The construct is well known for its easy measurement and its relationship with performance, including academic performance. However, there have been different criticisms, such as the overlap of grit with other personality characteristics, the variability in the psychometric structure of the Grit-O and Grit-S tests, and the fact that some work reports a weak influence of grit on academic performance. Within this framework, this study contrasts different psychometric structures of the Grit-S scale and its relationship with the academic performance of higher education students. So, with this purpose, a dichotomous model of high and low grit, a K-medias clustering model, and three structural equation models have been tested. The results indicate that (a) there is a statistically significant relationship between grit —mainly determined by the consistency dimension— and academic performance, although it decreases when controlling for contextual variables, and (b) Consistency mediates the relationship between Perseverance and academic performance. The instability of grit to predict performance is discussed, and the thesis of a two-sub-dimensional structure is supported.
Conciencia fiscal y presupuestos participativos
There is a paucity of research that has linked participatory budgeting to tax revenues, and no studies that have attempted to find a potential causal relationship between participating in this type of process and increasing individuals’ tax compliance. This paper therefore seeks to make a small contribution to the field by providing empirical evidence on this topic. Based on 530 questionnaires from a municipality with a track record in participatory processes, a system of structural equations was used to show how active engagement in a participatory budgeting process could lead to greater fiscal awareness.
