The event was held in conjunction with the International Day of Sign Language and the Year of Community 2025. Mohammed Bin Rashid Library Promotes Digital Inclusion for People of Determination

In cooperation with several government organisations, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library organised two workshops on the basics of sign language and the importance of its use in our daily lives, as well as on content creation in sign language. The event coincided with the International Day of Sign Language and supports the Library’s strategy to enhance community engagement and empower people of determination.

Delivered by trainer Youssef Al-Mughamrah in collaboration with the Community Development Authority, the International Day of Sign Language workshop saw remarkable engagement from participants. The workshop focused on learning the basics of sign language, including numbers, letters, key terms, and the five fundamental signs. It also introduced commonly used signs and words for daily communication, as well as simple expressions that facilitate interaction with People of Determination. Participants also applied what they learned through practical exercises and role-playing activities.

The second workshop, "Content Creation in Sign Language", was organised in collaboration with Dubai Club for People of Determination and presented by Emirati trainer and content creator Falah Al Ali. The session trained participants with hearing disabilities to produce innovative visual content in Emirati sign language—content that reflects creativity and effectively reaches digital platforms, thereby bolstering their presence and showcasing their talents in the realm of new media.

The trainer began the session by introducing himself and sharing inspiring moments from his personal journey, speaking about his early passion for photography and how educational and social institutions helped refine his talent. He emphasised that his family's support and his determination were key drivers of his success.

During the workshop, participants explored creating diverse digital content that caters to the deaf community and ensures their messages reach a broad audience. The session also focused on transforming challenges into creative opportunities and creating a new space for expression and influence in the digital world.

The two workshops were widely attended. Participants elaborated on  the importance of such initiatives in empowering People of Determination and equipping them with tools for self-expression. They also commended the pioneering roles of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library and Dubai Club for People of Determination in supporting this community and organising programs that promote social inclusion.

These workshops align with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library’s vision of cultivating community engagement and empowering People of Determination by offering opportunities for active participation. They also support the Library’s vital role in promoting inclusivity by equipping People of Determination with the knowledge and skills necessary to showcase their capabilities in digital and cultural spheres.
