لحوت هي رواية قصيرة، يطلق عليها الغرب إسم \"نوفيلا\" ولكنها تتسع لما يفيض عن عدد صفحاتها، إنها تتسع للذاكرة والوعي والوحشية إلى حد الدموية والإكتشافات الأليمة الهادمة لإنسانية الإنسان. تعتبر \"الحوت\" ملحمة دموية عن مجزرة مجهولة، يكشف عنها \"لوكليزيو\" القناع، على نحو غير مسبوق من السرد، بلغة صافية، وأسلوب هادئ رصين. كأنه يأتي من أعماق سحيقة في الوعي والذاكرة. يتقصى \"لوكليزيو\" وقائع ما جرى. بلا عاطفية أو إنشائية، فيكشف عن رؤيته لماهية الوجود الإنساني، وتحولاته، والدروب الدامية التي سار فيها نحو مصير لا إنساني.
