هذا كتاب مختصر في علم أصول الفقه، قسمه مصنفه إلى مقدمة وأربعة أقسام، ذكر في المقدمة مقارنة عامة بين علم الفقه وعلم أصول الفقه، بين فيها التعريف بكل منهما وما يتعلق بهما من أمور، والقسم الأول تناول فيه الأدلة التي تستمد منها الأحكام الشرعية، والقسم الثاني ذكر فيه الأحكام الشرعية الأربعة (الحاكم، والحكم، والمحكوم فيه، والمحكوم عليه)، والقسم الثالث يتكلم فيه عن القواعد الأصولية اللغوية، والقسم الرابع عرض فيه للقواعد الأصولية التشريعية التي تطبق في فهم الأحكام من نصوصها، وفي الاستنباط فيما لا نص فيه.
