هذا الكتاب يتصدى الدكتور أحمد آل عبد اللطيف لدراسة جانب مهم من حياة إمام الحرمين الجويني، وهو منهجه في دراسة العقيدة، وقد اجتهد المؤلف في استنباط مقومات ذلك المنهج من خلال مؤلفات الجويني في المقام الأول، من غير إهمال لما كتبه سابقوه، وقد وفق المؤلف أيضا في تتبع مسارب الفكر العقدي للإمام الجويني مقارنا ذلك بما أثر عن المدرسة الأشعرية أو ما عليه المتكلمون من غيرهم، مبينا ذلك وناقدا له في ضوء النصوص الشرعية وما صح من مذاهب السلف، وقد قاده ذلك إلى نقض بعض ما قاله الإمام الجويني ولعل من أبرز ذلك موقفه من تأويل بعض الصفات في الفصل الثالث من الباب الثالث.
