هذه الرواية قصة حقيقية لصبي زرادشتي وقعت في أول القرن. إن المصيبة والظلم الواقعين على إنسان مؤمن يشكلان نسيج الرواية الأصلي، كما جرت فى الرواية أيضا المحافظة على ردود فعله الروحية وقوه إيمانه بسنن أسلافه القديمة. وقد حاول الكاتب بإخراج هذا الأثر على هيئة قصة، أن يعيد خلق أحاسيس وآلام الصبي الزرادشتي البسيط الساذج، وعوامل انكسار فؤاده وبأسه وغضبه.
