هذا الكتاب \"عصور ما قبل التاريخ\" حيث ما قبل التاريخ هو التاريخ بعينه، بل هو التاريخ الأطول والأصدق والانطق إنه الحياة التي نقرأها من خلال الآثار المادية في عصر لم يعرف فيه الناس التوثيق بالكتابة، التي ما أن ابتكرت حتى غدت توظف الأحداث في خدمة فكرة أو حاكم أو متنفذ وعندما نقول بلاد الشام في عصور ما قبل التاريخ فإننا نهدف الى عرض تاريخ هذه البلاد، الذي لم يكتبه سكانها بأنفسهم وإنما دلتنا عليه آثارهم المنوعة التي نعثر عليها حيثما عاش هؤلاء الناس والتي اصطلح الباحثون على تسميتها آثار عصور ما قبل التاريخ أو آثار العصور الحجرية وفي كلتي التسميتين شيء من الصواب والخطأ أيضا.
