يتناول كتاب \"جيمس دين\" والذي قام بتأليفه \" فينابل هيرندون\" في حوالي (221) صفحة من القطع المتوسط موضوع (ممثلون أمريكا)، جيمس بايرون دين (8 فبراير 1931-30 سبتمبر 1955) كان ممثلا أمريكيا. يعتبر رمزا ثقافيا لخيبة أمل المراهقة، التي صورها في فيلمه الأشهر متمرد بلا سبب سنة 1955، والذي يصور قصة في لوس أنجلوس عن مراهق مسبب للمشاكل أو بالأحرى \"متمرد\" اسمه جيم ستارك. حصل دين على النجومية والشهرة بأدائه بطولة ثلاثة أفلام فقط. وفاته المفاجئة في حادث مروري جعلته من أساطير هوليوود. كان جيمس دين أول من حصل على ترشيح لـ\"جائزة أوسكار غيبية\" أو \"جائزة أوسكار بعد الوفاة\" لأفضل ممثل في دور رئيسي. وما يزال حتى الآن الممثل الوحيد في تاريخ هوليوود الذي رشح مرتين لجائزة أوسكار بعد وفاته. في سنة 1999، صنف معهد الفيلم الأمريكي جيمس دين في المرتبة الثامنة عشرة لأفضل ممثل في لائحة معهد الفيلم الأمريكي
