هذا الكتاب يناقش القضايا التي أنتجها الغزو الأمريكي للعراق حيث فرض تغير نظام صدام حسين جملة تداعيات تطال في نهايتها إيران الإسلامية من وجهة نظر الإدارة الأمريكية وتكمن أهمية هذه الدراسة إذ حاول الكاتب أن يدرس نقاط القوة والضعف لدى الدولتين حيث قام باستعراض سريع لكيفية تفاقم العلاقة بينهما، ثم بدأ بعرض قدرات البلدين ليخرج إلى ملف الاحتلال في العراق والملف النووي الإيراني بأسلوب يطغي فيه كثافة وغزارة المعلومات على التحليل والاستنتاجات وقد تضمن الكتاب العديد من الملاحق وخصوصا القرارات الصادرة عن مجلس الأمن الدولي ووكالة الطاقة الذرية حول الملف النووي الإيراني، كما قدم الكتاب سيناريوهات عدة حول العلاقات الأمريكية-الإيرانية بين التصعيد والعودة للمفاوضات والاتفاق على صفقة كاملة.
