يتناول الكتاب شعر الشواعر زمن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم منذ ولادته حتى وفاته. فذكر المؤلف شعر شاعرات عاصرن رسول الله ولم يذكرنه، ثم ذكر شعر شاعرات كن الى جانب الرسول من مولده حتى وفاته، ويتضمن شعر الدعوة وشعر المعارك وغيره، وبعد ذلك ذكر شعر الشواعر في الطرف المعادي لرسول الله، ثم أتبعه بشعر النساء في رثاء الرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام.
