يتكون كتاب تعليم الدراسات الاجتماعية وتعلمها من ثمان فصول يتحدث الفصل الأول عن الدراسات الاجتماعية من حيث مفهومها وأهدافها وأبعادها، ويتناول الفصل الثاني تخطيط الدروس في الدراسات الاجتماعية، والفصل الثالث يستعرض الأهداف التربوية من حيث مفهومها وأهميتها ومستوياتها أما الفصل الرابع فخصص للتهيئة الاستهلالية والوسائل والأنشطة التعليمية، والفصل الخامس يتناول اختيار طريقة التدريس والتقويم، ويتحدث الفصل السادس عن بعض طرق واستراتيجيات تدريس الدراسات الاجتماعية أما الفصل السابع يستعرض مهاراة إدارة الأسئلة الصفية وأخيرا الفصل الثامن يتناول مهارات الخرائط.
