يتناول الإمام الحارث ابن أسد المحاسبي وهو طبيب من أطباء القلوب على كتبه تخرج الغزالي فيمن تخرج، هذه المجموعة التي فيها أربع رسائل له : الأولى أعمال القلوب والجوارح والثانية المكاسب والثالثة العقل والرابعة المسائل في الزهد وغيرها (كالصمت والغنى والفقر ودفع الوسواس والكبر والرياء والهوى والشيطان والأوراد وغيرها) وهو يقرر منهج التصوف ويناقش من ترك الاعتدال والصواب إلى التزمت موردا على ذلك حججه من الكتاب والسنة ويبين الفروق الدقيقة بين المشروع من الأخلاق وغير المشروع منها وقد خرجت الأحاديث في الهامش، وشرحت فيه بعض الألفاظ الغريبة وترجم بعض الاعلام.
