هذه الرواية تحكي عن محام شاب تستدعيه سيدة بريطانية عجوز ثرية مقيمة في مدينة بورسعيد المصرية، ليساعدها في حصر ونقل ممتلكات زوجها إيلي، اللبناني المسيحي، الذي قتل في الشارع ولا يعرف من قتله وهو جاء طمعا في ثروة العجوز، لكنه انتهى باتهامه كعميل وجاسوس اختلفت عليه الأحكام والآراء ومن لحظة مغادرته لبريطانيا إلى لحظة وصوله إلى بورسعيد تتداخل الأحداث وتتشابك المعلومات وتدخل القارئ في حالة تيه وتشتيت مقصودة كتقنية كتابية لاشتغال الأحداث عليها، مثل عقدة وفاة إيلي التي تتوارد في متاهات ترسم صورا مختلفة لوفاته وتتداخل الوقائع ما بين الخيالات وبين الأحداث الحقيقية، فأحيانا تكون خارج حدثها، أو تدخل في حدث آخر تشارك مع زمن حدوثها... إلخ)
