تأتي أهمية كتاب مراسلات جورج لوكاتش، المفكر الماركسي والناقد الجمالي، كونه يضم أهم المخطوطات اليدوية والمذكرات والملخصات المتبادلة بين جورج لوكاتش وبين غيره من الأدباء والمفكرين. فبعد وفاة لوكاتش بعام ونصف، ظهر الكثير من الأعمال والوثائق الخاصة لتضاف إلى المكتبة الغنية من المؤلفات والأعمال التي توثق لحياته الزاخرة بالإبداع وقام صاحب هذه المراسلات بإيداعها محفظة في إحدى الخزائن في بنك (هايدلبرغ) بألمانيا، واكتشافها ولد صدى واسعا في الصحافة الألمانية، لما احتوت من مخطوطات يدوية ومذكرات وملخصات مهمة.
