صدرت في وقت سابق موسوعة الكويت المصورة الكويت صور وذكريات للمؤرخ والمؤلف عبد المحسن محمد حجي العوضي باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية، تضم 40 فصلا بدءا من تاريخ أسرة آل الصباح ومرورا بالتجارة والصناعة والبنوك وختاما بالألعاب الشعبية والسيارات والدراجات قديما. بدوره كشف مصنف الموسوعة عن فكرة موسوعته وكيف بدأ بها، حيث قال العوضي إن المثل الكويتي اللي ماله أول ماله تالي ينطبق تماما على الهدف من مسعاي من تأليف وإعداد هذه الموسوعة، فكويت الماضي جميلة وأناسها طيبون وحباها الله بالكثير من النعم وحتى لا ننسى ولكي نجعل أبناءنا في اتصال مع الكويت القديمة، قمنا على مدى سنتين بتجميع الصور القديمة وتصنيفها حسب الأبواب التي تألفت منها تلك الموسوعة.
