يدرس هذا الكتاب المرحلة الأخيرة من مراحل المسألة الشرقية، وهي المرحلة التي استحوذت على المشهد السياسي الأوروبي بدءا من سنة 1831 حتى سنة 1841، حيث استطاع محمد علي والي مصر بمعاونة ابنه إبراهيم أن يجدد قوى مصر، ويحرز انتصارات باهرة على تركيا ( الدولة صاحبة السيادة على مصر) وينتزع منها مساحات شاسعة من الأراضي التي كون منها إمبراطورية واسعة الأرجاء بسطت نفوذها على شمال أفريقيا وغرب آسيا.
