يتحدث الكتاب على ظاهرة العنف حيث أن ظاهرة العنف في مجمعتنا أخذت بالازدياد بشكل لافت في السنوات الأخيرة، مع ما يصاحب ذلك من سلوك شاذ من بعض الأفراد في الأماكن العامة أخذ يعكر السلم الاجتماعي ويقلق الجميع وتتمحور أسبابها في عدة عوامل اجتماعية واقتصادية وقانونية وسياسية وينحصر أهمها في ضعف الثقافة القانونية لدى شريحة كبيرة من الناس بسبب الجهل بالقانون باعتباره الوسيلة المشروعة للحصول على الحقوق، وهذا يدفع عددا منهم إلى العنف وأخذ الحق باليد.
