كانت أفجينيا تشيركاسوفا كتاباتها واضحة وقوية بشكل مثير للإعجاب وتظهر إحساسا قويا بالتطور الدراماتيكي خصوصا في الفصل الأخير حيث أنها تظهر وبشكل مقنع كانط في الجدل الفلسفي ودوستويفسكي في السرد المتخيل وكلاهما يركزان بإهتمام على الأسئلة المركزية لحرية الإنسان والخيار الأخلاقي والمسؤولية الفردية والطابع المطلق غير القابل للاختزال للالتزام الأخلاقي وإمكانيات \"الشر المتطرف\" في الطبيعة البشرية والسلوك كلاهما يرفضان بشكل حاسم ليس فقط التأكيد النفعي على العواقب المستقبلية كتحديد للميزة الأخلاقية في التصرفات الحالية بل يرفضان أيضا وبنفس الحسم ما دعاه دوستويفسكي بعقيدة المحيط والإدعاء بأن العوامل النفسية والاجتماعية يمكن التذرع بها بشكل شرعي لتفسير وتبرير الأعمال الإجرامية.
