يتناول الكتاب حيث يعتمد فيما توصل إليه من نتائج على النقوش والعملات التي كانت متداولة في ذلك الوقت والتي زودته بمعلومات مهمة حول إقامة التدامرة في أجزاء كثيرة من العالم القديم وتعطي معلومات قيمة عن وجودهم في حصون ومدن تجارية تقع على الطرق التجارية القديمة، وبعض هذه النقوش دللت على الاتصال التجاري مع الهند، وأعطت المؤرخ معلومات مهمة عن النشاطات السياسية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية والعسكرية والدينية في تدمر نفسها، أما العملات فزودت المؤرخ بأدلة حول الوضع السياسي، وأسماء وتواريخ وأماكن السك، ومملكة ميسان خير مثال على ذلك، حيث أصبحت العملات المصدر الرئيسي لمعرفة أسماء الملوك وتاريخ هذه الدولة.
