يحكي لنا الكيلاني في هذه القصة عن \"العرندس\" الرجل الأحدب الذي يحب الغناء والسمر والذي مر في أحد الأيام بدكان الخياط فاصطحبه الخياط إلى بيته وعندما كان العرندس يتكلم أثناء الأكل وقف الطعام في حلقه فاختنق ومات فقرر الخياط التخلص منه بوضعه عند بيت الطبيب والذي خاف فحمله ووضعه على سطح بيت التاجر الذي أيقن أنه السبب في هلاكه فحمله ووضعه أمام مسجد ليظن الشرطي أن مؤذن المسجد هو القاتل.
