Overview
اضطراب النمائية الشامل هو مرض وصفه كانير (Kanner) في سنة 1943، أطفالا أصيبوا بتخلف في التطور اللغوي، والذين لم يستطيعوا بناء علاقات اجتماعية تظهر هذه المتلازمة، عادة، قبل جيل الثلاث سنوات. تم منذ ذلك الحين، وصف متلازمات مماثلة عند أطفال، تتسم بأعراض تشبه تلك التي نراها في متلازمة التوَحد (Autism) التقليدية، بيد أنها تختلف فيما بينها بخطورة الأعراض، الجيل الذي ظهرت فيه الأعراض للمرة الأولى، واختلاف في الأعراض السريرية. يطلق على هذه المتلازمات اسم عام (Pervasive Developmental Disorders - PDDs)، وبالعربية : اضطراب نمائية شامل، لم يتم وصفه بطريقة أخرى.
