أن الكتاب يدير فى جزئه الأول حوارا صريحا وعميقا مع اتجاهات نقد الحداثة وتطبيقاتها فى دراسات الأدب العربى، خلال نصف القرن الأخير والعودة إلى النصوص الأصلية لهذه المذاهب وما طرأ عليها من تعديلات لم نتنبه لها بالقدر الكافى، واتصالها بألوان من الجدوى الجمالية والفلسفية والحضارية التى لم نقف أمامها طويلا وشدتنا فتنة الشكل المحكم دون غيرها من زوايا الفائدة فى هذه المذاهب وينتهى الكتاب إلى طرح نظرية التلقى بما يتوافق مع الفكر العربى، حيث إن الفكر العربى عبر تاريخه الممتد قائم على فكرة نص ومتلقى.
