Overview
يتكون من عصيات موجبة لصبغة غرام Gram-positive في مراحل النمو المبكرة (24 ساعة الأولى من النمو) بعد ذلك تتغاير الصبغة ما بين موجبة إلى سالبة لصبغة غرام فلهذا يعرف جنس Bacillus يكون متغايراً لصبغة غرام [1,2]. توجد أفراد هذا الجنس بشكل واسع في مختلف البيئات حيث توجد في التربة بشكل واسع جدا. وفي المواد المالحة بنسبة قليلة كما وتتواجد في البيئات الحارة (65 م°) والبيئات الباردة (5 م°) ويتصف هذا الجنس بأن بعض أفراده لها القدرة على تلوين الأغذية المعلبة والحليب المعقم والخبز [3] وبعضها الآخر له أضرار على الصحة إذ يسبب بعض الأمراض كالتسمم الغذائي والجمرة الخبيث.
