إن تعديل السلوك مفهوم يرتبط بمنهج علمي يعتمد على مجموعة من الإجراءات العلمية التي ثبت صحتها من خلال التجريب على سلوكيات الأطفال غير المرغوب فيها، إذ تم تعديلها بواسطة هذه الإجراءات المستمدة من قوانين التعلم التي تصف العلاقات الوظيفية بين المتغيرات البيئية والسلوك. وبذلك فإن هذا المفهوم يهدف إلى تغير سلوك الأفراد نحو الأفضل، أكاديميا ونفسيا وتربويا واجتماعيا مستعينا بإجراءات مشتقة من قوانين التعلم.
