يوضح الكتاب شهدت ثلاثينيات القرن العشرين وبخاصة النصف الثاني منها تغيرات كثيرة سواء في القارة الأوربية أو في مناطق الشرق العربي بعامة واليمن والجنوب اليمني الذي كان تحت السيطرة البريطانية خاصة وقد رصدت مجلة الرابطة العربية التي صدرت في مصر عام 1936 م هذه التغيرات حيث تناولت الكثير من المعلومات المفصلة عن عدن ولحج وحضرموت التي بمجموعها تشكل مادة للباحثين في تاريخ هذه البلاد كما نشرت المجلة عددا من الرحلات التي قصدت اليمن وعدن وحضرموت فصورت لنا عن كثب أوضاع تلك المناطق بروح علمية صادقة.
