كتاب المعتمد في أصول الفقه تأليف محمد بن علي بن الطيب البصري أبو الحسين، هو من أبرز الكتب التي حفظتها لنا المكتبة الإسلامية في علم أصول الفقه ويقول المؤلف في مقدمة الكتاب : ثم الذي دعاني إلى تأليف هذا الكتاب في أصول الفقه بعد شرحي كتاب العمد واستقصاء القول فيه أني سلكت في الشرح مسلك الكتاب في ترتيب أبوابه وتكرار كثير من مسائله وشرح أبواب لا تليق بأصول الفقه من دقيق الكلام نحو القول في أقسام العلوم وحد الضروري منها والمكتسب وتولد النظر العلم ونفي توليده النظر إلى غير ذلك فطال الكتاب بذلك وبذكر ألفاظ العمد على وجهها وتأويل كثير منها.
