يقدم المحقق نسخة قيمة من الكتاب بعد مقارنته بعدة نسخ من المخطوطة وصحح المحقق في هذا الكتاب أجزاء من المخطوطة وردت فى كتب سابقة كما يقدم بذلك إضافات مهمة على سيرة ربان البحر العربى الذي ولد في رأس الخيمة فى الإمارات وعاش بين (821-906للهجرة) ووضع ابن ماجد الذي خبر بحار عظيمة علوم البحار والإرشادات لمرتاديها في قصائد وأراجيز شهيرة فقد سبق للمحقق أن تناول سيرة ابن ماجد في كتب تاريخية مهامة تؤرخ للملاحة العربية في المحيط الهندي.
