\"قط وتسعة كلاب\" عبارة عن مجموعة قصص كتبها المؤلف وهو في السجن نقلا عن أبطالها الذين كانوا معه في السجن واستمع اليهم ونقل مغامراتهم بعد خروجه إلى العالم وتتنـوع تلك القصص بين حكاية \"الرجل الذي سرق مكتب بريده\" إلى قصة رجل أعمال كبـير يحاول أن يسمـم زوجته خلال رحلتهما إلى سـانت بطرسبرج مما يتمخض عنه في الحالتين عـواقب غير متوقعة وفي قـصة أخرى ينتهي الأمر بصاحب المطعم الإيطـالي ماريو إلى السجن لأنه لم يستطع أن يفسر لرجال الضرائب كيف تسنى له أن يمتلك يختا وسيارة فيـراري ومنـزلا في فلورنسا.
