يمثل كتاب «حرب أكتوبر 1973 دراسة ودروس»، لمؤلفه الفريق أول محمد فوزي، مذكرات مهمة عن تلك الحرب. فهو قائد الجيش المصري بعد نكسة 1967م، إذ جرى تكليفه بإعادة بناء القوات المسلحة خلال ستة أشهر، فبدأ العمل، وقبل انتهاء المدة، أعلن الاستعداد لمعاودة العمليات العسكرية بعد ثلاثة شهور فقط ! لذلك، تعد مذكراته من أهم الوثائق التى يمكن الرجوع إليها للتعرف على الحقائق السياسية والعسكرية، وربما الاقتصادية والاجتماعية التى تماست مع تلك التجربة القاسية على العرب، ومن هنا كانت أهمية تلك المذكرات.
