يضم هذا الكتاب ثلاثة أبواب ؛ يتناول الباب الأول التعريف بالمنهج العلمي، فيعرض في الفصل الأول لمحة تاريخية عن هذا المنهج، ويحدد الفصل الثاني مفهوم وأهداف ومسلمات المنهج العلمي، ويتعلق الباب الثاني بإجراءات المنهج العلمي، فيتحدث الفصل الثالث عن التجربة وصياغة الفروض، ويعرض الفصل الرابع الأدوات وجمع البيانات، ويختتم هذا الباب بالحديث عن أخلاقيات التجريب على كل من الإنسان والحيوان. أما الباب الثالث والأخير فيعالج مناهج البحث في العلوم التربوية، فيعرض لكل من : المنهج التاريخي (الفصل السادس) والمنهج الوصفي (الفصل السابع) والمنهج التجريبي (الفصلين الثامن والتاسع) وأخيرا المنهج شبه التجريبي (الفصل العاشر)
