هناك عددا كبيرا من الكتب المهتمة بمنهج البحث التاريخي، والتي بإمكان الباحثين بالتاريخ الرجوع إليها لأهميتها، ولكن ما يزال كتاب منهج البحث التاريخي للمؤلف الدكتور حسن عثمان. رغم أنه قديم في تاريخ نشره إلا أنه مفيد جدا للمهتمين بالتاريخ بشكل خاص وللعامة بشكل عام. حيث احتواء هذا الكتاب على مقدمة وفصول وبلغ عددها خمسة عشر فصل وخاتمة. المقدمة: تحدث فيها الكاتب عن معنى التاريخ، وهل هو علم أم فن، ثم يوضح أهمية دراسة التاريخ وبعض صفات المؤرخ وملامح منهج البحث التاريخي.
