تدور أحداث رواية أسامة السعيد \"رواق البغدادية\" للقهر تاريخ، والتاريخ لا يسير أبدا في خط مستقيم، وإنما في حلقات دائرية. ولأن المرأة تمثل الحلقة الأضعف في مجتمعنا العربي، فإن نصيبها من القهر والاضطهاد كان مضاعفا، ورغم أنها كانت صوتا جليا ومؤثرا في الثورات المصرية على اختلاف أزمانها، فإن تلك المشاركة لم تشفع لها في تغيير نظرة المجتمع إزائها، ولا في تحطيم الأغلال التي صنعتها عقليات ذكورية وسلطوية مغلفة بغلاف الدين. ما بين امرأة مملوكية، وباحثة في التاريخ المصري، وصحفي معاصر، وبأسلوب سردي شيق ينتقل فيه بين زمنين متباعدين، لكنهما متقاربين في الأحداث والمآسي.
