في ديوان \"باب النظرة\" لأحمد العسم تتفتح أبواب الرؤية على ما ينفي الرؤية وينسفها أصلا، لأن الشاعر لا يتوسل النقل والمعاينة والاستجلاب، بقدر ما يأمل في الحلول والنفاذ والإبدال، فالعالم أوالوجود في مدارات الرؤية المباشرة للعسم تطيحه إلى هاويات وجروف تطل على تجربته الذاتية المنذورة للشغف كما للألم، وللذاكرة المضيئة كما لسواد العلة الجسدية. تتخطف قصائد العسم في هذا الديوان الكثير من المخالب الموحشة والمكابدات الموجعة والانشداه الحارق لفراديس الطفولة وانتظار يقظة الموتى في ليل اليأس الطويل، يكتب العسم في قصيدة رثائية لوالده.
