يسرد الكتاب بطريقة مشوقة، توثيقا لقارب «الشاشة»، الذي كان يعرف باسم «محمل الفقير» و«القارب المعجزة»، كونه كان لا يغرق، حيث لا يؤثر فيه تسرب مياه البحر ودخوله من بين «الجريد»، حيث كان يتم صناعته من جريد النخل، حتى أصبح ملازما للصيادين في البحر، لا سيما في مناطق الساحل الشرقي، وبعض المناطق في رأس الخيمة، حيث كان يستخدم للصيد بصورة أساسية، وصيد اللؤلؤ القريب «القحة»، والتنقل بين الأخوار القريبة من الشاطئ. كما يتناول الكتاب أساليب الصيد والأدوات القديمة مع الصور والمعلومات، التي توضح هذه المهنة بالتفاصيل في التراث.
