لعل أهم ما يميز هذا الكتاب: ويجعله أهلاً للترجمة, وجديراً بتصدره مكانة رائدة في الدراسات الشعرية العربية المعاصرة, أنه يحاول أن يتتبع الشعرية العربية المعاصرة مركزأ فيها على منعطفات مساراتها الدالة الكامنة في مناطق توترها وتماسها وتحاورهاء سواء بين القديم والحديث؛ حيث التحاور بين الشعر العربي والثقافة العربية القديمة والحديثة» وبين الشعر الأوروبي والأنجلو - أمريكي وثقافتهماء وغيرهما أحياناً أو تحاور بين الذات وعوالمها الخاصة والمحيطة بها .والكتاب بهذا التصور لا يتوخى التأريخ لظاهرة الشعر العربي المعاصرء ووضع تحقيبات خاصة له أو تَقَضَي التحليل النصي لهذه الشعرية, وإنما يحاول أن يتوقف في هذه الشعرية عند مواطن تَحَلُّقَ فعل الاختراق وتَبَرغم الحداثة الشعرية وتولّدهاء ومن ثّمَ توالدهاء وفرض لفتهاء وفنيتها وسردهاء ومساراتها.
