يتناول الكتاب مجلد ضخم يحوي بين دفتيه عمل شاق ومضني ليس بالسهل أن يؤرخ لمهنة المتاعب منذ الفترة الاستعمارية لمنطقة الشمال إلى فترة ما بعد الاستقلال. فهو طاقة من الصبر الخلاق كما ذكر الأستاذ خالد مشبال في التقديم الأول للكتاب، وهو الريادة والاستيعاب كما وصفه العلامة الدكتور حسن الوراكلي في التقديم الثاني للكتاب، فيسترسل ويقول، \"فأما الريادة فتتمثل في سبقه إلى الاشتغال بتاريخ الصحافة في المنطقة الشمالية على نحو لم نعرف له نظير فيما عرفناه من أعمال، وأما الاستيعاب فيتمثل في غناء مضمونه من حيث إطاره المكاني والزماني واللغوي.
