هذه الرواية قصة مغامرة تاريخية هي القصة التي لا تكاد تصدق لحسان القفقاس الشركسي (القباردين) وكيف انتهى به المطاف في شمال انجلترا أثناء حكم ماركوس أوريليوس ولقد أثبت فحص ال DNA أن حصان كليفلاند الكميت الشهير العائد لإنجلترا وقباردين القفقاس كانا متطابقين وهذه قصة مغامرة حول السنوات المبكرة من الألفية الأولى (عام 173 للميلاد) بعد أن هزم الإمبراطور ماركوس أوريليوس أمتي السارماتيون والسند أثناء الحروب المركونية وكانت التجربة التي دفعها زانتيكوس ملك السارماتيون إلى الرومان تشكيلة من فرسان السند والسارماتيون مع خيولهم للخدمة ضمن الفيالق الرومانية في شمال إنجلترا.
