هذا الكتاب الذي نقدمه (سقطرى... هناك حيث بعثت العنقاء) لمؤلفه المستشرق الروسي المعروف فيتالي ناؤومكين، هو باكورة أبحاث ودراسات لاحقة له عن سقطرى، منها : (دراسات إثنوغرافية-لغوية عن سقطرى)، و(السقطريون-دراسات إثنوغرافية تاريخية)، وهذا الأخير هو أهم أعماله المكرسة لسقطرى، أجمل فيه حصيلة بحثه العلمي الدائب، النظري والميداني من مطلع السبعينيات وحتى صدوره عام 1988 ميلادي في موسكو بالغة الروسية، وقد ترجم إلى الإنجليزية وصدر في لندن عام 1993 ميلادي، قبل أن نتعرف عليه باللغة العربية.
