التاريخ العسكري ليس كما هو عند الباحثين الهواة عبارة عن حروب ومعارك وحركة جيوش وأسلحة وانهزام وانتصار وإنما هناك مجالات مغيبة لم يبحث فيها، تضم مواضيع وإشكالات جريئة تتماشى مع الراهن، وهذا ما دفعنا خلال قراءتنا والبحث في التاريخ العسكري الإسلامي لبلاد الغرب الإسلامي إلى ضرورة إخراج بعض الإشكالات ونفض الغبار عليها وإعادة تشكيلها منها قضية وإشكالية الرعاية الصحية لجيوش الغرب الإسلامي، أو ما يعرف حديثا بالصحة العسكرية وهي من المواضيع النوعية واتجاه جديد في البحث حسب رأينا يحتاج إلى دراسة أو التعريف بها على الأقل ومدى حضورها في مشاريع المؤسسة العسكرية للغرب الإسلامي الوسيط.
